Serato’s Audio Affect Series taps Mylo Mu for ‘Beat Tape’

Emerging rapper/producer Mylo Mu showcases his unique skill on latest release, “Forest.” The track is featured on the Audio Affect Series Beat Tape, in partnership with Serato, UNDEFEATED, and TEC Leimert.  Along with multiple other creators, the artist graces the project’s catalog of songs.

“Forest” has a lofi inspired sound with mild bass and an atmospheric undertone. The rhythm is calculated and harmonious. As the second of twelve songs on the project, the track sets the tone for the creative energy. The beat dips down then back up with a satisfying repetition.

The Audio Affect Series is a music incubation program that highlights black and brown talent in South Los Angeles. In honor of Black History Month, DJ and production brand Serato has teamed up with lifestyle brand UNDEFEATED and local nonprofit TEC Leimert to curate Beat Tape. Each track showcases a rising artist in the Los Angeles area, including Mu.

“I did have some of my own feelings and ideas about being in Leimert and what that feels like, what that sounds like to me,” explains Mu, “For me it was picking a track that has some soul to it, has some spaciness to it, but then also has a nice drum. If it’s soulful and it bounce, then it’s good for me.” The artist was specifically chosen for the project and had the opportunity to work with several mentors to bring his vision to life.

The compilation can be found on SoundCloud with limited edition vinyl copies available. Other featured talent includes Lyric Jones, DJ Cori Jayne, Bridget Perez, Tariq Elliott, Da Gawd G, NFNTY 94, LDOT ADOT, TVKII, Keliief, GaigeB, and DJ Cherri. Through mentorship and empowerment, the project not only spotlights Los Angeles creatives but emerging talent in its urban communities.
